Why
is a system important for making my home comfortable?
An indoor comfort system is more than just a furnace or air conditioner
picked at random for your home. It is a set of carefully chosen components
that are carefully installed in your home to create a total “Carrier indoor
weather system”. Hinrich has the experience necessary to design and install
such a system for you.
What type of components make up a "system"?
Many components make up your system. The heart of the system is the furnace.
Not only does the furnace provide the heat for your home in the winter, it
also serves to move the conditioned air throughout your home year round. We
choose a furnace based on the heating requirements of the home as well as
the air flow requirements of the air conditioner and the quality of the duct
system. Next comes the cooling portion of the system. The air conditioner is
chosen to meet the loads of the home itself as well as the internal loads
such as people, appliances, and ventilation. Air quality concerns are
considered especially if members of the family have any respiratory problems
or the home contains items which can be harmed by dirty or dry air. Air
cleaners and humidifiers can help to control these problems. Thermostat and
zoning systems control the temperature in different areas of your home. An
area often forgotten is the duct system. No equipment, no matter how
sophisticated or efficient, can provide comfortable conditions without a
properly designed duct system.
Is
it important to use products from the same manufacturer in the system?
Yes. For best performance it is recommended to use items designed and
produced by the same manufacturer. You can be assured that these components
are designed to work together in your system.
How do you calculate the heating and cooling requirements for my home?
The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), of which we are members,
publishes the standards for load calculation to the industry. This standard
is called Manual J. Carrier has used this information to design their REZ
and REVS load calculation procedures. We use all of these methods at various
times depending on the complexity of the system we are designing.
How
do you calculate and design the duct system?
ACCA also publishes duct design standards which are contained in Manual D.
This serves as the basis for the systems we use to design our duct systems.
